Eden Street's 2017 in Review: What a year!
Happy new year, friends!
How’s 2018 treating you so far? Good, I hope.
Back in November, as Christmas was fast approaching and I was scrambling to prepare enough holiday stocks while practically overloaded with writing work, I was thinking, What did I do with Eden Street this year? Maybe I just couldn’t see past my full plate and dizzying schedule, but I honestly couldn’t think of a big Eden Street milestone in 2017. That can't be, I thought.
And it wasn’t. Once I had the time to look back on Eden Street’s year, I was blown away by what had actually happened in 2017. Here are the highlights...
Eden Street joined a handful of pop-ups and bazaars in 2017. I celebrated Valentine’s Day and Mother’s Day with the rest of the Common Room family in Alabang Town Center—just months before Common Room’s ATC branch opened! Among others, I also joined Finders Keepers: A Creative Flea Market, Get Filed’s 2018 planner launch, and bazaars organized by 35 Abada and Katipunan Weekend Market. Shout-out to my usual booth partner, Carawrrr!
In April, Eden Street got a new stockist: The General Store at Coast Boracay. Yes, you can buy some of our products in Boracay!
A total of 31 women, including three from abroad, joined the first-ever Magic Mail Swap, which I hosted in June. I had long wanted to organize a snail mail exchange. I’m so happy I did it in 2017, and I’ll do it again this year for sure!
I collaborated with three awesome women last year. In July, I launched a collection featuring letterer and illustrator Risa Rodil’s take on Eden Street’s motto, “The world is as magical as you allow it to be.” The Eden Street x Protons postcard pack, a team-up between life coach Kimi Lu and myself, came out in October. And in November, I introduced Best Year Ever, a year-end kit I worked on with life coach Aurora M. Suarez.
Eden Street has a dotcom, y’all! My website and online shop went live in August. (You’re on it right now!) Launching a website wasn’t really on the agenda—it was a plan for the future, not specifically for 2017—but after scoring a free slot to a Create Your Own Website workshop, I took the plunge. (Thanks, The Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf and The Artist Scientist!)
When Common Room’s gooorgeous Alabang Town Center store opened in August, it had twice the number of brands as the Katipunan store! And now there’s an even bigger pop-up space, also in ATC, until January 31. If you haven’t already visited, the trip down South is worth it, I promise.
I introduced a lot of new products last year. One of my favorites is the Magic Mail Kit. It’s not a best-seller, but it was a product I really wanted to create.
Finally, I met a lot of fellow creatives and small business owners in 2017, and many of them have generously showered me with entrepreneurial and creative advice. It’s such a blessing to be surrounded by inspiring and hard-working friends.
Did you know that 2017 was only Eden Street’s first full year in existence? And what a year it was! I want to thank YOU for being part of it.
I have big plans and high hopes for 2018, but what I’m most excited about is continuing to spread love, joy, and magic with YOU this year. Are you ready? Let’s do this.
